Blasting Systems for Decontamination
Blasting systems for decontamination
Decontamination systems are used to remove radioactive deposits and adhesions from floors, walls and other surfaces, as well as in tubes and workpieces of all kinds. After decontamination, the workpiece can usually be disposed of in the normal way, and metals of all kinds can even be recycled. Only the residual dust collected in disposal drums is taken to the final disposal site.
UOur range of systems includes the following decontamination systems:
● Decontamination with Problast® closed-circuit systems
● Decontamination with hand-operated blast cabinets
● Decontamination of tubes
I. Decontamination with Problast® blasting systems
For dust-free decontamination of surfaces, the use of Problast® blasting systems with a closed abrasive circuit is ideal. The direct recovery of the abrasive/dust mixture inside the blast gun means that no abrasive or dust is released into the environment.
Problast® decont blasting systems are available in different versions:
- Blasting with recirculation or single-use process (for high radiation levels)
- Drum change without interrupting blasting operation
- Vibrating device for increased compaction of the abrasive in the 200-litre disposal drum
- Stainless steel design of the assemblies that come into contact with blast media
II. Decontamination with blast cabinets
Smaller workpieces are decontaminated in hand-operated blast cabinets. Here too, the recovery cyclone and disposal drum are an integral part of the blasting system. By using a Problast® power pack, the system can also be operated alternately as a closed-circuit blasting system (see above):
III. Decontamination of tubes
Special internal blasting systems are used to decontaminate tubes and tube sections:
